America Failing it’s Citizens
Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez and his fight to help save the people he serves. Hospitals in Hidalgo look like war zones; docs, nurses & techs are tired; need more space & beds, but who will staff them? Morgues & funeral homes are full, they’ve resorted to refrigerated trucks to store the dead — supplies of oxygen & PPE low. Ambulances wait for up to 10 hours. And all the County Judge is asking for is the ability to require people to stay at home so that he can stop the spread of this virus. Abbott is choosing to let people suffer and die instead of lifting a finger to help them. He won’t even let them help themselves. This story is just one of the hundreds of stories that are repeated all over the United States. The U.S. is in crisis, and the citizens want to change and change now.
People are dying needlessly because the President, and certain Governors have not taken this PANDEMIC serious. A strong response, being more obsessive about saving lives, needs to occur nationwide, and all must be on the same page. This action is where a robust, honest, and empathetic President could have lead citizens to a safer United States, and a strong collaboration by governors is needed.
We have a gang infused mentality of the indefensible that has occurred in the White House that has oozed into the public domain. This mentality has crept terrifyingly into the police forces and militants running amuck in the United States, believing they can be held harmless for their fool-hearted abusive behaviors. These militants are using terrorist tactics and tactics reminiscent of Nazi Germany, and they were created and are Department of Homeland Security officers, which have drawn criticism for arresting Portlanders and loading them into unmarked minivans, leading to a national outcry. A U.S. Marshals officer shot a 26-year-old protester, Donavan La Bella, in the face with an impact munition, critically injuring him. The federal forces have drawn widespread criticism for using chemical weapons and impact rounds, and otherwise physically engaging protesters who do not appear to be a threat.
The government using deadly chemical weapons and violence is definitely against the Constitution. The use of tear gas in warfare, as with all other chemical weapons, was prohibited by the Geneva Protocol of 1925: it banned the use of “asphyxiating gas, or any other kind of gas, liquids, substances or similar materials,” a treaty that most states have signed. The use of this chemical agent, which can cause physical injury, permanent disability, and even death, is often excessive, indiscriminate, and in violation of civil and human rights. Black people are being murdered and brutalized by police with near impunity.
The coronavirus crisis has cost some 36.5 million American jobs in two months with experts warning that figures could peak above the Great Depression in 1933. As many as 6.7 million rent-burdened households could face eviction once enhanced federal unemployment insurance expires at the end of July and eviction bans across the country lift, according to a new analysis from UrbanFootprint. This tech company makes urban planning software. While other reports like this one, today, upwards of 20 million U.S. renters are poised to be evicted between now and September, according to Emily Benfer, the chair of the American Bar Association’s Task Force Committee on Eviction, offer a much bleaker future.
Nationally, one and two-bedroom 2018 rents rose steadily, faltered in the third quarter, and then trended higher. The national median rent for one-bedrooms rose 4.1 percent, ending the year at $1,078. Rents for two-bedroom apartments stood at $1,343 in December, reflecting a substantial 5.5 percent gain. This cost means that the one-time payment would not even cover the median rental price for an apartment in the United States. There are colossal employment and housing atrocities about to occur in the United States beginning in September of 2020.
The blustering and avoidance of the citizen’s needs that both the President and the GOP led Senate will be the direct cause of this. Their small talk and whining to avoid reality will not remove those horrors anymore than it has the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The federal government currently has a deficit according to the Congressional Budget Office said on Friday that it expects the federal budget deficit to hit $3.7 trillion by the end of the fiscal year 2020 — nearly five times the current deficit at the halfway mark of the fiscal year. This current fiscal year deficit will bring the total budget to over 27 Trillion, and Gross federal debt stood at $23.7 trillion at the end of March 2020.
The federal and many state governments have failed their citizens and cannot flip their failures to successes in time to save America from the brink of collapse. Who do we blame? The greedy, the politicians, and the criminal Oval Office. The time that people protested the demise of the once-mighty United States by one administration and political Party.
